Learning Session 'UN for All: Dignity and inclusion in the UN workplace'

On 03 November 2016 the learning session on UN for All: Dignity and inclusion in the UN workplace was conducted at UNFPA office in Uzbekistan. ‘UN for All’ is the ‘UN Cares’ new initiative dealing with different types of stigma and discrimination in the workplace and with the human rights principles that should govern our conduct as international civil servants to create inclusive workplace environment.

The session was facilitated by Charos Maksudova (UNAIDS) and Dilora Ganieva (UNFPA), UN Cares focal point. Representatives of UNFPA, MOM, security guards participated at the session. 

During the session following topics were discussed:

1)      Human rights for all;

2)      Language of inclusion;

3)      Committing to UN for All.

 

The most live topic was about bias, how natural it is, what should we do to overcome negative bias and in general – should we do anything with our bias? Discussion was very intensive, and as a result it was agreed that to meet more people, to see various situation would contribute a lot to overcome some of the bias. But first of all, the person has to want and should be ready to change.

 

In general, most of the participants noted that session was interesting and informative, sessions were visually rich and interactive, presented video was useful.

 

In the end of the session, participants were presented the UNAIDS Campaign Hand up for #HIVprevention. By participating in such campaigns, participants committed themselves to make their places dignified and inclusive.
