From now on, all draft laws and regulations will be subject to gender-based assessment

In line with the recommendation of the Gender Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Regulation "On the procedure for gender-legal examination of the regulatory legal acts and their drafts" was approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to it, draft laws and regulations and by-laws governing all spheres of society will be subject to gender based assessment. The main purpose of this is to analyze the compliance of the documents with the principles of guaranteeing equal rights and opportunities for women and men.

The draft legal document subject to gender legal examination must comply with the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, internationally recognized norms and the Law "On Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men" and other legislation governing issues in this sphere.

This Regulation will prevent the adoption of norms in the legislation of any restrictions on the rights and interests of women in ensuring gender equality, which may directly or indirectly discriminate on the basis of gender.

Advisory councils on support of gender equality can be established by the staff in each organization

The Law on Guarantees of Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men stipulates that the staff of each organization can establish advisory councils on support of gender equality.

The Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan on gender equality has developed relevant recommendations for the organization of the Advisory Councils.

According to the recommendations, the advisory councils can ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men in the organization, protection of women's labor rights, equal pay, access to incentives, training, and opportunities to get leadership positions.

The establishment of the advisory councils will serve the priorities of our state policy to provide comprehensive support for women and the solution of gender issues in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
