The UNFPA Uzbekistan's official website was among the finalists at the recent Uz National Domain Internet Festival 2012 in Uzbekistan. The UNFPA Uzbekistan's website was recognized as one of the BEST FAMILY WEBSITES in the festival. The festival has become traditional through the years since its first establishment in 2001.

An award ceremony was held on September 27, 2012 at the Youth Creativity Palace in Tashkent, which kicked off the “INFOCOM-2012” - week of information and communication technologies. The organizers list include the Forum of culture and arts of Uzbekistan foundation, Kelajak ovozi youth initiatives centre, UZINFOCOM computerization and information technologies developing center, and Infocom.uz magazine with support of Uzbek agency for communications and information.

This year about 544 websites were registered for participation at Internet Festival of UZ national domain zone on 10 topical and two special nominations – “The Website for Family” and “Opening of the Year”. More than 65% participants were participating for the first time. The UNFPA Uzbekistan also took part for the first time in this contest program.

“THE BEST FAMILY WEBSITE” nomination was introduced as a new category in which the UNFPA Uzbekistan’s country website was a runner-Up. The official website of the UNFPA in Uzbekistan is visited by many for various purposes to collect data and learn about the latest events organized locally and internationally by the organization. It is user friendly and features some edu-taining features like playing interactive games on-line and many useful links and information.

UNFPA has established its Country Office in Uzbekistan in 1993. Since then, it has assisted the government of Uzbekistan in a number of joint projects aimed at assisting the population of Uzbekistan in the areas of Family Planning, Gender Equality, Safe Pregnancy and Childbirth and many others. UNFPA also contributed to the development of statistical data using the population statistics and issued significant publications for the both Republic of Uzbekistan and global community.
