As a result of the COVID - 19 pandemic, about 3 billion people all over the world lived in lockdown and quarantine conditions. And in most countries they still continue to live in conditions of "self-isolation". According to statistics, the introduction of quarantine in more than 82 countries of the world has led to an economic crisis. As a result, the number of conflicts in families has increased. According to the World Health Organization, the problem of domestic violence is one of the central in the modern world. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said on his Twitter page that domestic violence became a global problem at a time when almost all the forces and resources of the countries were mobilized to prevent the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.
On June 18 of this year we decided to conduct another survey titled "Causes of family conflicts?" among subscribers of the “No to Violence” telegram channel. According to the survey:
- 72% of respondents said that conflicts occur due to misunderstanding between spouses and different attitudes to life;
- 30% - due to parents' intervention into "young" people’s lives;
- 16% - due to the lack of compromise between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law;
- 13% - due to bad habits (drugs, alcohol, gambling, persistent infidelity of one of the spouses);
- 21% - due to economic problems, i.e. lack of funds in the family;
- 3% - due to the fact that a woman treats family members differently;
- 19% - men (husband, father) are irresponsible towards their family responsibilities;
- 10% - due to physical and psychological violence against women;
- 6% - due to psychological and physical violence against men;
- 7% - due to the irresponsible attitude of women to household chores
We may conclude that the main guarantee of a happy and harmonious family life is, first of all, mutual understanding, similar outlook on life, the same goals and objectives, as well as the education of both spouses. Also another factor that mostly impedes happy family life of young is interference of parents or other family members into the lives of young couples.
