Quarterly issued Uzbekistan Gender theme Group Newsletter was launched for the first time in Uzbekistan. Gender-Theme Groups (GTGs) as defined as UN Theme Groups working on gender equality, focusing on how to more effectively collaborate around women’s empowerment and gender equality issues at the country level. GTGs usually have broader functions to support interagency coordination, gender mainstreaming efforts, capacity development, normative/policy work, communication and advocacy and joint programmes to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment at the country level. It was identified that GTGs are widely considered to be a key platform for information sharing, advocating for gender equality, strengthening accountability at the UNCT level, and promoting coherence and coordination across agencies.
