On 1-3 December, UNFPA together with the Gender Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the financial support of the British Government organized a Training of Trainers on the use of Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) for legal, healthcare and psycho-social service providers in the frames of multi-sectoral response to gender-based violence.

Purpose of Training: In preparation for the national scale-up of the “Standard Operating Procedures”(SOP) of multi-sectoral response to gender-based violence (GBV) throughout the Republic of Uzbekistan, to strengthen the capacity of regional organizations and agencies, that provide complex services to GBV survivors in the regions and act as trainers through the formation of knowledge and skills using SOP in their fields of work.

Training Objectives were to provide regional representatives with knowledge of the content of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in the provision of services in response to gender-based violence and to develop practical skills in applying these standards to work with victims of gender-based violence; to develop specific model training plans for various service providers on the basis of Standard operating procedures, taking into account their special training needs and capabilities; to develop practical strategies for on-site training of representatives of organizations serving victims of gender-based violence at all levels of the structure of organizations and agencies (regions, districts, communities).

In 2020, standard operational procedures (SOPs) have been developed for the elimination of all forms of violence against women for health, law enforcement, psychological and social services. 
 Participants of the training were selected according to the criteria specified by the organization's central structures and trainers from 14 regional departments. During 3 days, the participants received knowledge in four areas - legal and internal affairs, health, social psychological services. The participants learned about the basics of education, mechanisms for responding to cases of gender-based violence, the importance of a comprehensive approach to working with the victim.

Upon training completion, trainers will be required to conduct training sessions on their specific subjects with their colleagues in the regions on the basis of the calendar plans and orders of the relevant ministries.
